Petaling Street

Or KL's Chinatown- is one of the best place to shop for bargains.

It's the only place where you could buy Louis Vuitton's handbag for RM50.

Fake ones, ofcourse.

I went to Petaling Street last Monday and stayed at LeHotel (booked using agoda.com) which was at the heart of Petaling Street. The Hotel was pretty decent. For a price of RM70 for a standard room, you get one cozy bed, air cond, tv with astro and a very clean bathroom with a water heater.

Long story short, my KL trip last week was a disaster because I've just realized that my passport expires next year, on the 31st of December 2013, so my visa application would be automatically rejected if I didn't renew it. My visa application is done so i'll be enjoying the rest of my holidays, for now.

(During my visa application, I came as early as 6.45a.m and people have already started queueing at the front registration desk! A friend of mine who came at 8a.m had to suffer a long wait until 2p.m just to get his visa application done)

Ok, back to Petaling Street.

Interestingly, there a lot of tourists who come over Petaling Street to buy these fake products. (Well..not that many, but most of them). There's this cute Korean tourist that I saw the other day..damn, if only I had her number..lol. Anyways, I have nothing against fake products, (since they're cheap while the original ones are sooo fucking expensive) but, a few of my friends have told me to be very careful while shopping at Chinatown.

"Jangan tanya harga kalau ko taknak beli..kalau ko tanya harga pastu ko tak beli..ada kemungkinan yang tauke kedai tu akan tahan ko sampai ko beli barang tu.."

I don't know how valid that statement is, but, have you guys ever experienced such things? Hmm..

Pikom PC Fair 2011

It sucks!!!!!!

Let me say it again-

It sucksssssssss!!!!

During this year Pikom PC Fair, I expected something different, something extra ordinary or something that is out of the box but to my dismay it is nothing short as disappointing.

As usual there were lots of people during the Pikom PC Fair and I hated it. Rubbing shoulder to shoulders with other people around and was almost suffocated with the ambient air inside the conference hall gave me a bad impression during my time there. I think the people attended the pc fair just now was almost equivalent to the people who lived in Kuching!

Now, let's talk about the laptops, cameras, computer accessories and other gadgets being sold during the pc fair.

All of them were the same as it is during last year (except for a few minor changes) and to my utter dismay almost all of the prices were the same! I expected that atleast there's some discount but there wasn't. I saw one of my headphones being sold at the same price as I bought it last year albeit the HD228's sucessor, the HD238, which has been in the market for quite a while now.

Well so far I enjoyed the audiophile section though, since i'm a music junkie. Was almost tempted to buy another set of headphones. Its blue in color and has a "adidas" logo on the side of it. Didn't check price. I bet that its pricey! :p

Beautiful, right?

I did test a few headphones at the booth and was impressed by the sound qualities of headphones. I saw this one big headphone and I think its twice as big as my head! =.="

So. As I was busy walking around during the fair I did took some photos of those sexy model booths (my only sole intention to go to the pc fair). I didn't took a lot of photos though since there were a swarm of photographers wanted to take their pictures too. Here's some of the photo's.

As a verdict there's nothing much to see over here at the Pikom PC Fair- everything is very common and I didn't bought anything at the fair. I think Lowyat offers much more flexibility and prices.

There's a lot of customers that the workers have to handle and I think its hard for you to get the very best deals from them, too.

So. Are you going to the PC Fair?

Please think about it, before you regret! :P
(Unless you want to cuci mata, of course..hehehe)

So Sarawak.

Wheepee! I'm back in Sarawak!

Not that i'm really looking forward to this though, but I guess i'll take this opportunity to take some well deserved rest- as well as some studying time.

***********

You know,

I've always had issues when i'm going back home in Sarawak.

I never liked the fact that I had to take at least 2 bus trips from Micet to LCCT. When I first arrived at Bukit Jalil last Friday, I wanted to take a cab to KL sentral because I was sick/asthmatic and couldn't really walk that far on the train with a bag that weighs a ton of books, notes and a laptop.

Guess what, when I asked what was the price for the ride from Bukit Jalil to KL Sentral, an old lady in her 30s at the taxi waiting area quoted me a price of "RM30".

Urgh. Hello?

It's like RM3.50 if I walk from here to KL sentral using the train. I expected the most was RM20. The last time I took a cab at KL was earlier this year, from KL Sentral to Bukit Jalil, was RM20.

I was totally pissed off and walked away- but there was a taxi driver, yelling at me;

"RM25 la dik. Discount"

Fuck you.

I was in a very stressed mood the other day and I didn't have a lot of cash with me so what the heck, I'll just walk instead of paying RM30.

Well, my journey to Kl sentral wasn't the most pleasant walk I've ever had though, with ah bengs and promoters constantly harassing me to take those so called "free" gifts and prepaid cards and those smokes from the cars, construction works and cigarettes gave no-help at all. (No wonder some people say KL was "hell"). Overall it was nothing more satisfying than saving RM26.50- and used it to buy a double fillet o' fish burger and a vanilla milk shake at McDonalds at LCCT.

As I enter for boarding, I saw this guy at a shop buying shitloads of breads, Gardenia in particular.

And that was when, lightning struck my memory.

I remembered back when my mom and aunt usually bought a box full of gardenia breads for me and family in Sarawak each time they went to the peninsular for work. Every bite of those gardenia breads was something words can't describe back then. Usually i'll bring a few if there's some leftovers to school and eat it during recess. My friends usually ask where the hell I get those gardenia breads and I'll always proudly answer-

"KL- lah"

So I bet that the guy who bought that shitload of gardenia breads just now must've been a Sarawakian.

An instinct, of mine said, with an experience, that I've been through, when I was still a school kid.

Ah..good memories.. :)

Its Sunway, Baby!

Last week I had a fun trip with my friends at Sunway Pyramid and Sunway Lagoon. It was atleast 8 years ago since I went to Sunway and going here does bring back some memories, truthfully. The way I see Sunway last time was so different..maybe I was still a kid and didn't really knew anything. But now, I was truly amazed how big and fun it was here. (Probably because my parents were absent-lol)

We went to Sunway Lagoon to enjoy ourselves and throw out some steams off over our chest after the ielts exam- well, literally. The entrance fee was RM60 for an adult, plus another RM10 for a deposit. We wanted to go Genting Highlands at first, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, we decided to go Sunway Lagoon instead. In all honesty, I didn't really enjoy my time at Sunway Lagoon but my friends did though. At first we went swimming through the water river and pools and after that we tried those crazy swinging boat thingy..which really spoiled my mood and took all the fun away inside of me.

To further add insult to injury, after getting my head spinned off from the boat, I placed my ass on a roller coaster at Sunway Lagoon, which was way smaller compared to the one at Genting. After the ride I was totally nauseous and I felt like I wanna pengsan. Seriously. I just can't play those things that has spinning thingy or crazy g-forces like a roller coaster. I still remember that I puked at Cosmo World after I played some crazy spinning wheel, which I rode twice. That was seriously a bummer!

Okay, I look vain in that picture. Harhar. So anyways, after the roller coaster ride I was seriously dizzy while all my other friends stood in front of me in amazement like-

"WTF you only played like 2 rides man and you already feel like puking?"

Yeah..so I was told that I had some serious brain damage. =.=". I had to sit back and lay down on the chairs while my friends played other rides. We saved the wet rides last; since they were the best. While waiting for my friends playing, I eventually went to sleep!!! This must be some sick joke that I've payed RM60 just to sleep at Sunway Lagoon?

I think I've slept for more than 15mins and when I woke up..it was raining. (The raindrops woke me up..lol). So I walked away slowly from the place that I've slept earlier on and searched for a place for shelter. Minutes later my friends were calling me,

"Hey, come on, let's play some rides! This one for sure you wont get headache lah. I promise K?"

That sounds gay obviously, but hell, I joined in and we played some water slides. It was fun but I can't really play much, because I was still dizzy.

Frankly speaking, I've wasted my RM60. My friends said it was so totally worth it since they played almost every ride and tons of time too. Probably when I have the chance to go Sunway again, I'll play the ferris wheel instead of the roller coaster. The merry go ride instead of the boat. =.=".

Anyways, at Sunway Pyramid, I had the chance to play ice skating. Something that I've never tried before and something, that I really want to try. I had to pay a staggering amount of RM31, including the gloves (I get pink!!! WTH!!!!) at Sunway. (It was school holiday, the normal rate would be RM15, without the gloves).

How was it?

The first 2 hours when I tried ice-skating was hell!!

I can't balance my body, my feet wasn't straight and the ice skating shoes are uber uncomfortable!! I was seriously amazed and awestruck as most of the people here know how to skate. I keep on stumbling and falling. I even crashed on a kid for god's sake!

The kid was fine though, don't worry. I looked like a complete idiot and my pants, shirts and gloves are all wet and sweaty. I'm making myself a fool!

Most of the time I skate while touching the walls of the ice-skating ring. Practice makes perfect; the golden rule if you want to master anything. Hiqal, a friend of mine falled a gazillion times I guess because his pants were soooooooo wet as if he swam on a swimming pool! It was his first time too and he skated quite well, albeit falling and stumbling constantly.

The next 2 hours though was a bit different as I managed to balance my feet and body comfortably, but still, I constantly fall and stumble on people, cones and walls. Pisssen told me that during his first time, he was similar like me too, falling and stumbling. After a few trials and errors, I finally managed to skate averagely, though; which was totally fun without the occasional stumble and crashes.

It felt like a breeze.

To sum it up, I had a blast at Sunway. Apart from learning something new, wasted RM60, slept at a theme park, I've gained an experience on riding a roller coaster because I've never rode one before.

My friend, Gijul said,

"Kalo yang Sunway ko x lepas, jangan harap la nak pegi Genting..haha"

Genting..a place that I should avoid if I don't want to waste money and sleep on the chair again..LoL.
