It's Snowing~~~!!

I'll be honest. I hate snow.

Especially when the snow melts, it dries up, cools and hardens into ice. By the time you step on it, you feel like Michael Jackson. Yes. Michael Jackson. It makes your pair of leg dance and moonwalk involuntarily and if you do it like Stone Cold, you could land your sorry ass on hard ice. Not good.

Snow is fun when it's clean and soft. Touch it and you feel soft little marshmallows melt slowly and if you round the snow nicely into a ball, you could use it as a weapon. Throw it at someone's testicles you could make him cry. Bring a board or a wok you could be Tony Hawk.

Welcome to Sheffield, snow. I've been expecting you. Let's hope that the snow thickens by tomorrow so that we could gear up and prepare for war. Good thing that i've bought new pair of snow gloves.

Kinaara- The Best Halal Buffet In Sheffield!

I love food. Everyone loves food! After sending my design project group report on Tuesday, me and my friends celebrated the occasion with eating out at possibly one of the best Halal buffet in Sheffield- Kinaara~!

It costs £11.50 a person to enjoy the scrumptious buffet meal in which there are 3 selective cuisines to choose from, Indian, Chinese and Thai. I'm a sucker when it comes to Indian foods..I absolutely love them! Especially that mutton curry and beef embroiled in thick soy sauce...ahhh..delicious!

There are lots of food being offered such as chicken lemon grass, fried chicken wings, tom yam, curry, spring rolls, kebabs, dhal, roti, naan's, pilau/briyani rice, etc. For dessert, there's a choice of fruit cocktails and ice cream. Unfortunately you have to pay for your drinks and we ordered unlimited supplies of tap water for free..haha.

I ate 3 big meals which consists of mutton, beef, chicken and more meat and 2 small cups of icecream. I was totally bloated and it was totally money well spent! If you guys are thinking of breaking fast, this would be a good place to eat as they also have a small room where you could pray.

If you're in Sheffield, come and visit Kinaara and try all of their mouth watering meals. Just take the 52 bus (on going to WoodHouse) and stop exactly at Kinaara (just take a look at your left and be aware of your location). If you're at the city centre, it'll probably take around 15mins to reach there.

Bring your friends along and enjoy an indulging, belly quenching and tongue challenging food quest at Kinaara! I really recommend you guys trying the beef with mushroom soy sauce..it's a must!

P:S//And oh, try not to order mango lassi or any yoghurt drinks while at Kinaara, it would make you full much faster. Lols.

Nottingham Malaysian Games 2012

It's been a month since i've last updated! I'm soooo sorry guys! I've been busy lately- 3rd year in my course and there's been tons of assignments, projects, essays and what nots. I really wanted to post a few stuffs back in Malaysia but i've got no internet connection and i've been using my digi prepaid internet which is shitty as fuck. To open my facebook account it takes me around 15mins to load.

So yeah, i'll talk about that later, but now, let's talk about one of the biggest Malaysian event in the UK- the Nottingham Malaysian Games 2012!

It's my second time to enjoy such an event. This year, two new games (if im not mistaken) were added- squash and snooker and around  5000 Malaysian students from 50 universities attended; Malaysians everywhere!

I didn't participate in any of the games as i've always enjoyed watching the games instead of taking part. Probably i'll try to join in the games in my final year. Me and my friends took an early bus at 5.30am and reached Nottingham at 7.30am. There were lots of Malaysians and after meeting some old friends, we went to the Malaysian food festival- located at Portland Building and Great Hall of Nottingham's university.

One thing i've noticed at the food festival is that the food is pretty expensive! I was shocked to see that the prices of Nasi Lemak, Nasi Kerabu, etc to be £4.50 and the price of one cucuk of satay costs you a pound. Now that's inflation. I've also noticed that the apam balik now costs you £3. 50 pence more compared to last year. Everything is getting expensive now and I've been told that all of the foods catered in the festival is provided by restaurants instead of students- hence the price hike. Nevertheless I bought Nasi Kerabu with mutton and the apam balik, which was delicious. Dah datang jauh rugi lah tak beli. Haha.

Right, before I forget, during the food festival, there were sooooo many people inside the building! In fact, me and my friends had to queue in such a long line and had to brush shoulder to shoulder with other people to get around. Plus, I remembered a guy shouting that you could only buy a maximum of 2 bungkus of nasi lemak..haha.

After munching some delicious foods we went to watch some of the games and as always, football is the place where spectators shout, scream and yell to show utter support for their teams. I have to say that i've been impressed by the transportation provided for the event and the volunteers are very helpful indeed. The main event of the games was the football finals between Sheffield and Manchester university, where both of the teams have some distinct past and the match didn't disappoint- everyone enjoyed it and the goal celebrations were very cheeky indeed. Congratulations to Sheffield in defending the gold medal and trophy- battering Manchester 4-0. A worthy mention to the Belfast team as well, for securing 4th as this was their first involvement in the games. Birmingham uni scored a beauty for the 3rd goal.

Sheffield 3.0

I've been moving to my new house recently and there's been no internet connection- hence the no update. It's a decent house and very lovely, I love the lounge pretty much and my room has a fireplace in it, just that it's not working. But still.

Life has been pretty boring lately with no classes as usual and most of my friends are back in Malaysia enjoying the good old sun and toasty weather. It's cold and wet here in Sheffield. British summer sucks and it sucks balls. Whenever you wanna go out and soak in the sun to have fun and enjoy a little bit of good time there'll be rain to crush your dreams.

Ahhh.

So all of my application for internships in the UK got rejected, maybe because I'm a 2nd year in my master's degree but most of them said that I was in lack of experience. Yes, experience.

I'll try to get as many volunteering jobs as I could in my 3rd year and try again, well it's not as if I'll die if I didn't get any practical experience but it's essential if you want to get a very good job after graduation. I'm settling in as a university accommodation cleaner in my university and to be honest the pay is damn darn good-

It's RM40 a day and I could get like RM160-240 depending on how busy the day is.

That's like 3x more than the average pay for an engineer!! Tapi yalah, terpaksa cuci dapur, jamban, bilit. Sikdala kotor ne, just cuci debu and buang tekih2 kulat ngan dakik oven..hahahaha

Syok la joli beli barang time dapat gaji!! Woohooo.

Anyways, olympics would be held in London and obviously everyone knows that. I wanted to see a few games live but the tickets are too expensive! I'll just settle myself with watching in live streaming on the net. It's free..lol.

I just can't wait to go back home now. Just a few weeks left and i'm back to sunny Malaysia!

Olympic Torch In Sheffield

Though a bit late, but a few days ago the Olympic torch arrived its way to Sheffield! 

It was the biggest event in Sheffield in June and roads were closed, and there were a sea of people came out to see what's the fuss all about. 

I've never seen an Olympic torch in real life before, so this is my chance to finally see one. After work, I went out to the city centre and took a few photo's albeit a bit restricted as there were sooooo many people around! Here's a few photo's of the event. Enjoy these snaps! While we were waiting for the Olympic torch to arrive, we had a conversation with a granny standing beside us. She said that she waited like almost 60 years to see the torch infront of her eyes and was very grateful that the Olympics would be held in London.

When the torch arrived, I was a bit disappointed as there only like 3 groups convoy with the torch holder (I was holding a camera with my right hand and recording a video with my handphone with my left when the Olympic torch arrived..haha); in which there were atleast 10 when there were on the way to the city. There were busses, cyclists and a few others, but yeah, we waited at the end of the line so couldn't get any chance to see the other groups moving along with the torch bearer.

Still, I find it very disturbing for the London's Olympic mascot, Wenlock, to be some kind of one eyed creature.

Shop-Shoppp

Went out shopping with my friends at Sheffield's city centre today. It was raining quite heavily despite the summer season- which really spoiled the mood for holidays but it didn't deter us from to spend some £££££££££££..hahah.

After having a lunch at subway we went to Topman and I spent £25 for a macaroon topman sweater, in which I only paid for £22.50 as they have a 10% student discount available. Gotta love topman for that!

Then another £2.50 spent on a new light green t-shirt from primark. Primark are always known for their cheap and good quality clothes. I think almost half of my wardrobe are from Primark. =P.

Converted some pounds to euro's for my trip to Italy next week- can't wait!! After a hell-blazing; sweat wrenching and stressfully agonizing exam week, I could finally travel and enjoy what the world could offer to each and everyone of us.

Going to visit famous cities like Rome, Florence and Milan! Had to leave out Pisa and Venice though since that would mean us spending more than what we planned for, but I hope that it would be a great trip and an enjoyable, memorable one to cherish.

After my trip to Italy I would be having my job interview, as a University Accomodation Cleaner..Lol. All of my job application got rejected so this is one of my last resort for Summer work. But still, it's good pay though, £7 an hour. Not bad, eh?
