Upgrading your old 32 bit windows to windows 8 64 bit.

A simple question: Could you upgrade your 32 bit windows xp/vista/7/8 to 64 bit windows 8?

The answer is absolutely YES.

***************

I'm a cheapskate.

Errr..kind of, really.

Anyways, i've recently bought a desktop pc as my aging 3 years macbook is running out of space (even my external hard drive is full too and getting another hard drive was not worth the money) and getting slower day by day. Also, battery is a problem as it wont last an hour with wifi on and the audio jack is broken- so yeah, a valid reason to buy one.

I bought a desktop without installing an OS and it costs me roughly £350. Adding the new windows 8 OS would cost me another £85 and that's almost a quarter of the cost of my physical new desktop- I had to find another cheaper option.

Here's what I did. (If you already have an OS- original/jack sparrow on your desktop/laptop, you could skip to step 3)

1. I bought a 32 bit windows xp professional software from ebay (costs me £17.50-you could buy yours from any retail shops or participating outlets).

2. Installed 32 bit windows xp- installation didn't take long, a mere 15 mins and everything was ready. As my desktop has 16gb physical ram, 32 bit windows registered only 3.25 ram- (one of the reasons why you should upgrade to 64 bit if you intend to upgrade your ram; 64 bit fully utilizes your ram)

3. Went to microsoft store and bought windows 8 pro upgrade. (£24.99)

Ok, here's the important bit. When i've bought windows 8, I installed the OS and windows upgrade assistant will prompt for the 32 bit installation instead of 64 bit. (I had windows 8 32 bit running on my desktop before I remove it)

If you want the 64 bit installation, you have to find a computer which has a 64 bit operating system because windows upgrade assistant will give you the installer according to the bit of the OS installed.

4. I used my friends desktop, who had a windows 7 64 bit professional installed and I opened my email account. I opened the microsoft email and jot down my windows 8 key and clicked on the button where it says "If you need to download Windows, write down your new product key and enter it here"

5. Downloaded the 64 bit windows 8 installer and clicked on Install By Creating Media. I clicked on the USB flash drive. I used my 16gb kingston pendrive and you need atleast 8gb if you want your pendrive to be a "bootable drive". Using this method is also the easiest, as you won't be using any .iso converters and image.

After installing the windows 8 installer to your newly "bootable drive", you are now one step closer in upgrading your windows.

Back up all your files (use an external drive, etc)- as doing this would ultimately remove everything inside your previous OS, because this is termed as a "clean" installation.

Once you're ready, kiss your laptop/desktop and tell her that you loved her and it's time to move on.

The previous image shows how does your pendrive looks like when the installer has been installed in your bootable drive.

6. Inserted the bootable drive to my desktop and restarted my OS, when the BIOS start up appeared, I pressed F12 to prompt the bios setup. Found my bootable drive, pressed it and there would be a windows 8 installer popping out.

(That's the 64 bit installer by the way) and just follow the instruction given. Installing windows 8 this way would remove everything previously installed in your laptop/desktop. So be prepared and don't be hasty when doing this sort of stuff.

Andddddd that's it! I hope you guys enjoy my simple tutorial. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask, I'll try my best to answer them if I could.

P:S// Nothing feels more satisfying than doing a custom installation and save £40. Feels like a bawse mangggggggggg.

Let's Play Digimon On Your Android Phone!

Update: I just knew that you can have 4 virtual pets in your android device so if you're alone then you can play on your own via loopback connection! :)

First of all, I would like to thank all my readers as RandomApples have reached 200k pageviews!

***********

Ok so I was pretty bored at home after my usual work scrubbing all the walls and kitchenwares at the university accommodation so I had this app installed to keep me occupied before I yawn myself to death-

It's called, VPET!

Or, as most of know it, Digimon!!

Aku ingat lagi time zaman2 skolah bawak bende alah ni main time rehat, main time lepas kelas and main lepas skolah. Nang popular gila Digimon dolok. My first ever digimon was the first version and it was the yellow coloured version and it was made in Indonesia (Not sure if this is true..lol). My first ever adult digimon was Greymon and has fought me countless battles and died proud as a warrior. I had lots of Digimon when I was a kid and I just love the natural square ones compared to the Digivice (in which your Digimon is much stronger).

I remember once, and it was during primary 6 where there was a spotcheck and I had to put my digimon inside my underwear since there's no place to hide it. No choice, okay? Haha.

So it's pretty obvious, anyone who played Digimon before should feel at home when they install VPET  on their ANDROID PHONE. I repeat- ANDROID. Bukan Iphone. Bukan Windows. Bukan Nokia 3310.

Android.

Just go to Google Play store and search for VPET and you get to choose which version you want. Currently there's version 1-4.

The best thing about having a Digimon on your phone is that you could battle with your friends anywhere, anytime you like! No more metal scrubbing- just put your phone via bluetooth, wifi or the internet and face off any challengers!

One thing that I dislike about this app is that you couldn't "cheat" your way to the 3rd adult digimon, like Teddymon, Metal Greymon, etc- if you know what I mean.

Apa gik? Jom la battleeeeeee!!!

Skarang ni da tau da nak buat ape time rehat mase kerja..hoho.

And oh,

You're Welcome.

P:S// Hopefully I'll get Greymon again as my first Digimon..I feel like a child once again!!

Macbook Pro Cleaning

I've had my mac for almost 3 years now it served me really really well. I love my mac a lot, and during this time of the year the battery's health have dropped down to 70% and everytime I set my mac on idle I could hear those disastrous sounds of fan coming out from nowhere.

So it's time- time to clean my Macbook Pro!!

Tools you might need- (from Amazon UK)

Screwdrivers (£2.99)

Dust Blower (£3.20)

And ofcourse, your own MBP.. =P

So, first thing you might do is flip your MBP to the backside and use your screwdrivers to open one the screws. Specifically, you might need a Philips 00 screwdriver to unscrew the mac. (Please note that there are some different lengths of screws inside the MBP so you might need to arrange your screws accordingly after you've undone them)

After unscrewing all of the screws. It's time to lift the back cover of the MBP and unveil the dungeon of dust, the lair of ants and spiders-

So I took my can of air blower, gave it a good shake, placed the tip at the end of the can and gave a whiff of air to the surroundings-

SPPPPPPPPPPPFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF---- the sound of sharp air blowing the dust of from my MBP. (Be sure not to touch any of the internals using your hands!!)

And the results;

A clean, better performing, battery saving, gaming enhanced and dust-free MBP!!!

It is a fact that blowing all the dust away from your laptop makes your laptop to perform better and makes it last longer.

Give your laptop a clean and you'll feel the difference!!

Hope this simple tutorial helps. Hehe. =)

The Klipsch S4 Review: Bang In My Ears

I care about my music.

So far i've invested a lot for my music listening equipment, and recently i've added the Klipsch S4 into that list. It costs much more than my Sennheiser, and the price paid was totally worth it (RM330), with the sounds are totally rich and splendid.

The Klipsch S4 was produced during the 2009's and though they are a lot of reviews regarding this earphone, but I think I wanted to write a review of it on my own- and this earphone was regarded one of the best by CNET.

Unboxing the Klipsch S4 gave me no surprises however, with the earphones, ear tips, manuals and the metal casing all inside. I wished that Klipsch could provide a proper casing instead of the metal case though, because its quite cumbersome to put the earphones inside case . (A zipper case or bag would be nice)

So. The earphones are made of high quality plastic and I didn't particularly like it. (I have bad taste against plastics) and the cables are much more durable, compared to my Sennheisers. Overall the build quality of the Klipsch is "okay", and there's something missing too- the eartip cleaner.

I think the newer production Klipsch S4 doesnt include an eartip cleaner. Oh well.

When I insert the Klipsch inside my ears, it was truly a pleasure. Its totally comfortable! After a prolonged use- I didn't experience much fatigue and I could listen to my music much much longer.

The sound quality? Totally awesome! With proper noise isolation, a high bit-rate and frequency music file gave me such bliss of heavenly music listening. I think you guys have to try it yourself to test how good these cans sound! I think listening Maroon 5 with the Klipsch using my ipods were like listening them live in concert!

Okay- I think that's a bit too exaggerative, haha. But still, the sound quality is very, very good.

Additionally, I do find the Klipsch S4 very stylish- something streetwise peeps should consider.

As a verdict, I would say the Klipsch S4 is one of the best pairs of headphones i've owned so far. There're a lot more quality headphones out there and its not cheap- they cost thousands and the Klipsch S4, fits my wallet pretty well.

Build Quality: 3/5
Features: 3.5/5
Ease Of Use: 5/5
Looks: 4.5/5
Sound Quality: 5/5
Overall: 4.2/5

FYI, Klipsch is one of the leading companies at US in producing high quality speakers and headphones- founded by Paul Klipsch, the hi-fi perfectionist.

My Top 10 Songs In My Ipod

I listen to music.

Most of the the time really-

I mean, everyday.

I just love music and if I have the chance to be alone in my room without my roommates (no- im not doing any porn surfing or anything; i'm not that kind of guy) i'll have the pleasure to dock my ipod into the holiest ipod speaker there is- the logitech S715i and turn on the volume out loud.

A monster, I'd say.

Ok, so whatever. Here's my top 10 songs that I always listen to my ipod. :p

10. Stutter, Maroon 5

9. Life After You, Daughtry

8. All My Life, K-C & Jojo

7. How, Maroon 5

6. Wonderful Tonight, Eric Clapton

5. Drops Of Jupiter, Train

4. Wind Of Change, Scorpions

3. Nothing Lasts Forever, Maroon 5

2. November Rain, Guns And Roses

And..for number 1-

1. Rahsia Hati, Element

9 out of 10 songs from my top 10 lists are English. But my number one song is in Malay, which is sung by an Indonesian band, Element.

This song really gives me the cold shivers every time I listen to it. The lyrics are strong and full with desperation- of love.

I never get bored listening to it over and over again- its so good, it always makes my mind winded and jumbled up with memories and thoughts of the past.

I just freaking love this song! :)

P:S// And No; there's no Justin Bieber.

FiiO E1 Review

Im an audiophile- a hi-fi enthusiasts; someone who enjoys listening to good audio, in terms of bass, clarity, etc..

I listen to music most of the time. Currently my music and listening gears are my sony mp3 player (which I usually use for exercise) and my ipod touch 4 (for personal music enjoyment) and a Sennheiser HD228. Last Saturday, i've added a FiiO E1 amplifier to my family of music.

So generally the amp is for ipods and iphones. You can plug any 3.5mm headphones into the amp and in my case, my Sennheiser. Frankly speaking, when I've inserted this amp into my ipod's "hole" and listen some music through this amp via my ipod; I was impressed.

The volume, bass and clarity improved significantly and I was really delighted. Songs like Scorpians, "Winds Of Change" really sounds soooo..good..and Usher's latest single "DJ Got Us Falling In Love Again" gave me some bass that feels like im in a disco party. Not forgetting how terrific Adam Lavine vocals were when he sang "Misery" for Maroon 5.

For technical purposes, you can control the volume, change/pause your music through the amp itself. There's a pause, "+", "-", "<<", and ">>" button which is very chunky to press. The length of amp is not  that long; measuring approximately 80cm. The amp itself is light, weighing only 20grams! And oh, the suitable headphone impedance would be 16-300 ohms (mine was 24).

Incase you guys don't know what impedance is good for music listening through ipods and mp3s, remember this statement the lower the impedance, the more efficient headphones are in converting the electrical energy (from your music device) into sound. Meaning, lower impedance headphones would save a lot of juice for your music listening! :)

So, to give it a nice little rep, I'll give the FiiO E1-

4.5/5

If you're an audiophile who wants to experience more listening pleasure and to greater heights or on a budget, I'd highly recommend the FiiO E1.

P:S// The price that I bought this amps were RM76 from an online seller in Lowyat. Incase you guys are interested, here's the link. =).

Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Own Yourself An Ipod Touch~!

Recently Apple launched their new 4th generation Ipod Touch, dubbed the most funnest ipod touch ever. You guys can read the review here.

Anyways, if you're a student, (university, college or even school), parents who's considering a gift for your child or an adult or teenager who wants something different;

I would boldly state that- GO GET IT.

I own myself an ipod touch too. To fully ultilize and maximize your ipod touch, you've got to jailbreak the ipod touch first- similar to hacking a psp. (Apple doesn't authorize cracked apps which you could get for free. Imagine a 100 dollar app you could get for absolutely nothing!)

Okay, im not trying to promote jailbreaking here, but the reasons why you guys should get the new ipod touch. Its my gay partner now- i mean the new ipod touch.

So, first things first.

1. You could listen to music. And Oh, watch videos too.

Everyone knows that! Duh. Its so obvious. WTF>>>Its not just listening to music that makes the ipod touch one hell of a device, but you could also put in some lyrics- meaning, when you're listening to a song, you could read the lyrics as well! Plus, if you're listening to the radio and you want to know what current song you're listening, don't fret. You can always rely on your ipod touch. (Metrolyrics and Soundhound apps are the best). Other than that, ipod touch also has VLC available, so to those video junkies, give yourself a favor!

2. Connect to wifi!!

Wifi! Wifi is everywhere! (In the city area, of course). Wifi in your ipod touch means you could surf the internet, go facebook, twitter and download music or apps! And, read Random-Apples too. =P. (A lot of phones right now have wifi connection available, so it doesn't gives too much significance over the ipod touch. However it is a +++ for the ipod touch being able to connect through the internet.)

3. Play awesome games!!!

Did you know that you could play NFS Shift, MGS, Guitar Hero, Resident Evil 4, Plants Vs Zombies etc..etc on your ipod touch?! Its like having a ps-one, ps-two and a psp combined together as one console! Imagine forking out an extra RM400 for a ps-two just to play resident evil 4 and another RM900 just for a psp to play NFS shift. Ain't worth it, you know. Moreover, these games costs you absolutely nothing!!!! (You'll need an internet connection, of course).

4. Music, Internet, Games. So what? What about learning?!

Ipod touch is just not about entertainment. You can learn through the ipod touch. How? Simply download the pdf reader or ibook apps and put lecture notes/e-books inside the ipod. Wala! Now you have a digital book where you could read it everywhere, anytime you want. For muslims, you could recite the Quran as well. There's an app where you could read the Quran. Very handy indeed. Say goodbye to heavy books!!!!

5. Your Daily Partner In Crime.

My daily partner in crime? You've gotta be kidding me! Yep- its true folks. When you buy an ipod touch, it would be your soulmate. Your gay/lesbian partner for the whole time. Why? Because ipod touch wakes me up in the morning, schedules my work/study, navigate my way to places through GPS, get my fitness in tip-top shape and I could accessorize my ipod according to my own style. Finally, you could record some HD video's too!! Cool? You bet it is!

So whats next? After reading through all these "Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Own Yourself An Ipod Touch"

University/College Student: Go get it.
Parents Who Wants To Surprise Their Kids: You Should.
Adults/Teenagers: Should I Say More?

An 8gb Ipod touch starts at RM829. Go to your nearest Apple Store, now!

P:S// Please take note that im not getting any $$$ from Apple for writing this. I wrote it because the ipod-touch is just so awesome!

Oh yeah. Another thing. You could also turn your ipod-touch into a phone as well!!! :DD.
(Apple Peel).

I'm lovin my ipod touch! :).

Creating Your Gaming Laptop!

Okay, I admit that I'm some kinda tech geek but the thing is, I can never run away from gaming. Everyone loves games. It's bullshit if you're not because I know that you're lying. Games are fun. And games should be played at the best conditions possible, right? So, I've got something to share with my readers, how to create your personal best gaming laptop!

What you need.

1. You'll need a laptop, ofcourse!

Any laptop will do. As long as it has decent graphics. Unlike the alienware laptops, they're far too superior. I'm using a Macbook Pro 13 inch, it has nice graphics and doesn't really hangs that much. A lot of people ask me could Apple laptops play games like windows? Of course they can! (Sorry mum, I've violated my promise not to play games on this laptop! =P)

2. Mouse! Where mousepad on laptops sucks.

A mouse is a must have for everyone! Wether you're using a laptop, netbook or desktop. Using a mouse feels so much comfortable than clicking on the mousepad provided by the laptop. How to play dota or counter strike when you don't have a mouse, right???? (Mouse with ballz are outdated. Use laser mouse instead!)

3. Speakers, providing you with the best gaming atmosphere possible.

Bored with inferior 2-d sounds from your laptop? Then its time to plug in some speakers yaww! Speakers provide gamers realtime sounds and certainly boosts the gaming atmosphere. Any speakers would do. Stereo, that is.

4. Keyboards, here comes guitar hero!

A lot of people thought that buying a keyboard for a laptop is worthless. But I kid you not! Buying a keyboard for your laptop is worth the investment. Why press the buttons on your laptop that could damage the internal parts of your laptop when you could press a new, shiny, keyboard? Don't be a cheapskate and get one now! Plus, you can play guitar hero with a keyboard too. :)

5. USB HUBSSS! Get those USB cracking!!

How the hell are you going to fit all those laptop accessories if you don't have enough usb's right?

6. MUST HAVE! COOLING PADDDD!!!!

Cooling pad is essential for every laptop users. Laptops doesn't really have an efficient cooling system. Gaming would cause the laptop to be prone to melting of your motheboard, if you're not careful. Do yourself a favour and buy your laptop a cooling pad. (Aluminium materials are best since they could absorb heat from your laptop faster). The cooling master U1/U2 edition is a great addition for laptop gamers! And btw, less heat=smooth gaming!

END PRODUCTTTTTTT!!!

5 STAR GAMING EXPERIENCEEEE!!!

Cooler Master NotePal U1 Review

I smashed a great deal on a hardware today, a laptop cooler; Cooler Master NotePal U1.

It costs me 70 bucks as I was able to bargain RM9 from the original price. It was a mere RM35 difference from its other sibling, the NotePal U2, which is bigger and better. (I don't have the extra RM35..where's my June salary goddamnitttt!)

Cooler Master NotePal U1 is not an ordinary made in china laptop cooler that you guys always see in the computer or notebook hardware store. It is much more sturdier, sexier and has a very good cooling efficiency.

"This is one of the coolest laptop cooler i've ever owned!"

The build quality is superb. The entire cooler is made from aluminium, and abit of rubber to give your a laptop a grip when you put your laptop on top. It surely feels 70 bucks well spent.

The fan was quality. Made from some aluminium and plastic, nothing was wrong there. It is detachable too, where you could place the fan at the hot spots on your laptop. (Preferebally at the CPU area)

"The fan is freaking powerful and quiet too!"

At the moment when I put my hands beneath the fan cooler, I was like,

"WTF?! So powerFUL! and cold!" (Unlike the RM10 China brand, which has very big fan, but it feels nothing at all and noisy).

When I plugged in the usb cable, I didn't realize that the fan was rotating.

"Here's the look of the fan. The notepal U2 has 2 fan's though, which I expect could improve cooling performance by another 50%"

The cooler is very ergonomic, where it makes my laptop elevate 50-60 degree's. Typing never felt this good. :p. (Typing horizontally on a laptop is not a good idea, as it tires your hand quite quickly).

Italic

"My hands said thank you when I bought this cooler. =p"

To test this Cooler Master NotePal U1 out, I tried experimenting by placing my laptop on the cooler, with and without the fan.

I opened 5 applications in my mac as a constant variable for the test, word, excel, celcom broadband, google chrome and dashboard.

"77 degree's! My CPU could melt anytime if it goes higher! T__T"

Usually the temperature of my CPU would show atleast 71~75 upon this task, under a room temperature of 23-28 degree's. (Air conditioned room).

I placed the aluminium cooler beneath my laptop and did some work for 3 min's and see how's the look of my laptop's temperature,

"Look, 68 degree's on the cooler itself! :D"

I was seriously impressed by the fact that by placing the cooler alone could improve my CPU's temperature by 9 degree's!

My inference for the result was because the aluminium body construction of the cooler absorbs the cold air from the aircond (aluminium has a very low heat capacity) and absorbs the heat from the CPU, thus, heat transfer is conducted. (The cold surface of the aluminium absorbs the heat energy from the CPU).

And..for the big suprise,

"62 degree's when the fan is placed under the CPU!"

I was like, whoa, wtf, 62 degree's! From a staggering 77% to 62% was a very big leap indeed. I was overjoyed by the performance of Cooler Master NotePal U1. A 15 degree's temperature difference is very big as I could keep my laptop cool and safe from CPU melting.
Italic
As a conclusion, I was overwhelmed by the result. Although its not cheap compared to any other cooler's around, but it was certainly really worth it because of the aluminium build quality of the cooler body and the good cooling performance from the cooling fan. Plus, this cooler is ergonomic too!

You laptop user's should get your hands on one of these! Seriously! XD.
