Kinaara- The Best Halal Buffet In Sheffield!

I love food. Everyone loves food! After sending my design project group report on Tuesday, me and my friends celebrated the occasion with eating out at possibly one of the best Halal buffet in Sheffield- Kinaara~!

It costs £11.50 a person to enjoy the scrumptious buffet meal in which there are 3 selective cuisines to choose from, Indian, Chinese and Thai. I'm a sucker when it comes to Indian foods..I absolutely love them! Especially that mutton curry and beef embroiled in thick soy sauce...ahhh..delicious!

There are lots of food being offered such as chicken lemon grass, fried chicken wings, tom yam, curry, spring rolls, kebabs, dhal, roti, naan's, pilau/briyani rice, etc. For dessert, there's a choice of fruit cocktails and ice cream. Unfortunately you have to pay for your drinks and we ordered unlimited supplies of tap water for free..haha.

I ate 3 big meals which consists of mutton, beef, chicken and more meat and 2 small cups of icecream. I was totally bloated and it was totally money well spent! If you guys are thinking of breaking fast, this would be a good place to eat as they also have a small room where you could pray.

If you're in Sheffield, come and visit Kinaara and try all of their mouth watering meals. Just take the 52 bus (on going to WoodHouse) and stop exactly at Kinaara (just take a look at your left and be aware of your location). If you're at the city centre, it'll probably take around 15mins to reach there.

Bring your friends along and enjoy an indulging, belly quenching and tongue challenging food quest at Kinaara! I really recommend you guys trying the beef with mushroom soy sauce..it's a must!

P:S//And oh, try not to order mango lassi or any yoghurt drinks while at Kinaara, it would make you full much faster. Lols.

Cheesy Crispy Skin Potatoes

I was soooo hungry this afternoon and I don't know what to cook really. I wanted something simple, not too heavy and tasty to bite and swallow- so I cooked "Cheesy Crispy Skin Potatoes!"

It is made from baby potatoes and is actually very easy to cook. Here's my recipe in cooking it.

1st- Wash your potatoes and put them in a pot and let them boil for 15-20mins..(check the potatoes if its cooked by using a fork)
2nd- After the insides of the potatoes are soft, get them out and use a fork to make some holes at the potatoes.
3rd- Coat the potatoes with olives oil, but not too much..just a lil bit.
4th- Put the potatoes inside the oven for 20-25 mins (170-200 degrees celcius)
5th- When the skin is crispy, bring them out and heat a pan with lots of butter (your own preference) and salt to taste.
6th- After the butter is hot and boiled, put in the potatoes and stir them until its crispy brown.
And finally,
7th- Add toppings if you want, in my case..cheese and sweet chilli.

Tadaaa!!

Your very own cheesy crispy skin potatoes!!

Update: I've got this reply from nazrul90..hahaha..scared the shit out of me..LOL!

Ramadhan Bazaar

Nothing beats Ramadhan bazaars!

Foods galore! Foods, they're everywhere!

I went to a lot of Ramadhan bazaars lately in Kuching. There's a lot of them such as the one in Satok (worse jam), at Jalan Tabuan, Taman Sukma, Matang Jaya, Kampung Boyan..etc..etc..i could list them all here, but the one and only Ramadhan bazaar that never fails my appetite is the one at Jalan Semarak, Gita.

Clean environment, and a hell lot of good foods. (Plus, its easy to find a parking and not heavily congested).

Food picsss!!!

N..for the best kebab i've ever tasted in my whole life-

RM3 a piece..it was heaven made on earth!

Lol. How's the Ramadhan Bazaar at your place?

Enjoy the good foods while you guys can!

Fast Food Cautious

I think most fast food are highly contaminated with saturated fat, yellow sticky oils and generally offer a cup of carbonated drinks which contains a lot of sugars.

Not healthy.

Not healthy at all.

The thing is, whenever I buy something from a fast food chain restaurant, be it McDonalds, KFC or even Pizza Hut, I always felt very cautious on eating them and today was no exception.

I bought myself a KFC snack plate (I thought of eating fast foods to treat myself before this coming Ramadhan) and no, I didn't take the pepsi drink but Cheesy Wedges-

Yep.

I wanted to eat it without hesistation, I mean.."Makan jakla..peduli apa aku dengan minyak, saturated fat and all those crap".

But it didn't work.

As soon as I pinch those crispy fried chicken skin, I panicked and get myself a tissue and wiped some oil from the chicken using the tissues.

Most of you guys might think..WTF?

I have this habit..like, everytime when I eat deep fried or oily stuffs, I tend to wipe it with tissues..so that I could avoid myself from eating those excess oils from it.

Sounds weird?

Ok.

So, in the end, I only ate one chicken (but ate all the side dishes including the wedges) but I had to give away the other piece of the chicken to some stray cats outside searching for food.

Better stay healthy I say. Should've eaten that bar of chocolate instead of KFC!

Harvest Festival~!

I was one of the few selected bloggers lucky enough to be called upon to experience "A Culinary Tribute to Harvest Festival" at Orchid Garden, Grand Margherita Hotel, Kuching which is officially launched by the Assistant Minister of Tourism Sarawak.

Along with Kim, Eli, Chim, Fahrie and Eve we enjoyed different types of delish mouth-watering dishes such as Pansuh Manok, Pansuh Ikein, Kasam Ikien Bekuk, Kasam Jerak, Sungkoi Tumpi, Sup Ikan Tilapia Terung Assam Dayak, Kueh Tebeduk (some of the few selections of the local authentic dishes of the Sarawak natives) and a lot more.

All of them- buffet style!!

We ate as much as we could, (Eli ate the most) and filled our stomachs really-really full.

Buffet what. Buffet is the only place where you could eat as much as you could and the best thing was- we could enjoy the food for free! :P.

I like those Pansuh dishes the most, while the Kasam is a bit too salty for my liking since it is preserved with salt before it is cooked. The Kueh Tebeduk was very nice, sweet and soft in texture and the soup, is very-very rich.

Nevertheless, the foods were awesome!

Ok, so here's some of the pictures that I took during the lunch!

Warning: This could lead to overly oozing saliva from ur mouth. (Do not see these pictures if you're hungry).

These delicacies are usually served on Gawai day as everyone would gather and celebrate a bountiful harvest. I'm sure these dishes could fulfill your exotic taste buds in no time!

And oh, Grand Margherita Hotel is currently having the "Harvest Festival" promotion for the whole month of June!

All of the dishes mentioned and shown at the pictures are available at the ala-carte menu and it is available for lunch and dinner from now till the 30th of June 2011.

For bookings and reservations, call 082-423111 ext 1109/1158

P:S// Woah..I ate too much..now my belly is getting rounder..T.T and btw, thanks to SarawakBloggers and Grand Margherita Hotel for the invite! Kenyang perut ku aritok. ;)

MEE CRISPY TOMATO!!!

Boasting a price of RM4.50, I'd say this scrumptious mee crispy tomato was worth every penny i've paid for.

While I was having a walk around Kampung Boyan I was getting a lil' bit hungry and old pal "warung pak lah" was always there to welcome their customers.

The crispiness of the mee and the tender thick tomato sauce coupled with a chunk of prawn and chicken meat was totally fucking-

DELICIOUSSSSSSS!!!!

Street Food. Yum. Yum.

YUM.

Mee Kolok!!

For every Kuchingnite, Mee Kolok is a must when we're in Kuching. When I was studying at the Peninsular I was dreaming of eating Mee Kolok once i've arrived home.

I went to Kopi O' Corner for lunch today and was very satisfied to fill my tummy with a bowl of Mee Kolok..though I wanted Mee Pok (another type of Mee Kolok) but it was sold out!

I still remember those times when my dad used to bring me to eat Mee Kolok Hj. Salleh at the Satok area..ahhh..good times.

Nothing tastes as good as the food from your hometown, eh?

P:S//Suprisingly the price for Mee Kolok somehow increased to RM4..it was RM3.50 before this..and was RM3 when I was a kid. Waaaa...

Longest Roti Tisu I've Ever Seen.

Before I say anything, let me introduce to you what Roti Tisu is. Well, from my understanding, roti tisu is a type of roti canai which is very thin, crispy and usually eaten with some syrups or sweet milk.

Ok, so..look at that. It took 3 plates to place that roti tisu. (Bought it from a Kayu's Nasi Kandar at Penang). It was such a pleasure to bite those crispy and delicious roti tisu into my mouth!

I miss Penang's food. :(

Fried Mushrooms!!

This is one of my favourite snacks of all time.

I introduce to you, fried mushrooms!

I first ate this fried mushroom when Lee bought it from a local Pasar Malam stall at Tampin. It only costs RM2 a box. The moment when you put those little mushrooms into your mouth, you won't stop eating it until it gets finished!

It's crunchy and yummy at the same time! Can't wait to get my hands on this fried mushroom again. Hehe. I wonder where can I find other places who sells fried mushrooms? :P

Urgh..I really need to have one right now..

Makan2 Di Umbai

Yesterday me and my friends went to Umbai to have a dinner.

Umbai is famous for its seafood. Umbai's seafood is relatively delicious, fast and cheap; I dare to say that Malacca's Umbai is much better compared to Kuching's Buntal.  The journey took us approximately 40 minutes from Alor Gajah.

We ate at Ikan Bakar Parameswara, which is located at Medan Ikan Bakar Pernu and we ordered 6 types of dishes (there were 5 of us in each table) and the service was super fast! :p

Here's the 6 dishes that we ordered.

1. Lala Masak Halia

2. 10 Pieces Of Butter Prawns

3. Sotong Goreng Tepung

4. Kailan Masak Ikan Masin

5. Kerang Bakar

6. And...Ikan Siakap 3 Rasa!

I'm 100% sure all of you guys are drooling over those pictures, right? Imagine chewing those crunchy sotong goreng tepung in your mouth..ahhh...simply delicious!!

Other than these 6 dishes, we also ordered some white rice and a jug of orange juice and cold water.

The bill?

RM200?

Nah.

RM118 je.

Worst Nasi Lemak Ever

As your typical Malaysian, one should know what Nasi Lemak is.

Pandan rice served with sambal, eggs, cucumbers, peanuts, salted fish or if you'd like, fried chicken, meat or fish.

That would probably costs around RM3 and I still remember the days when I'm in school where the nasi lemak costs 50 cents (didn't include the chicken, meat or fish, just a simple one).

Recently, our cafe's at micet has changed their tender. No more Pak Ya. No more Puake. (The name that we used to call). Those cafe's now are taken over by two unknown people and it was 3 days ago when I bought a nasi lemak from one of those shops and it was absolutely shocking, for what they charged me RM1.20 a piece.

White rice + sambal = Nasi Lemak??

Where's the peanuts? Where's the egg? Where's the salted fish?!

Dahla sambal x sedap!

Seriously inflation has served our nation well.

White Lady

The first thing that when it comes to your mind about "White Lady" would probably be a lady in a white dress, no?

Well, nah, its not that. White Lady is a type of drink and I do think you could only find this drink in Sarawak ice- kacang shops. (I'm not really sure..but I did asked a few of my friends at the west peninsular Malaysia and they told me that they never heard of this drink).

White Lady is a very sweet milky drink rich with yummy fruits inside- usually peaches, nata de coco's, jellies, lychees, pineapples and so much more.

Every time you dip a spoon into the drink you'll always find a different fruit or jellies. ;p.

For those Kuching people, one of the best White Lady you can try is Swee Kang, near Jalan Haji Taha for only RM2.50! :D

P:S// You're not from Kuching if you don't know where Swee Kang is! Its the best ice-kacang stall in town!

Mee Sotong @ Penang

One of the best things about Penang is their vast diversity of food. You just can't get enough of them, really. Foods everywhere.

During one of my recent trips to Penang, I tried this dish, called Squid Noodle, which is also known as, "Mee Sotong" at Taman Kota Lama.

I can't really remember the exact price of the dish, but I think it was around RM3-3.50. From my own tongue of personal tastes, I do find that the Mee Sotong is delicious indeed- just that its very spicy.

People who loves spicy dishes should really try one of these at Penang. And oh, before I forget, you guys should also try their Coconut Shake. Very yummy!!! :p.

The Best Fruit Tart. Ever.

Feeling hungry?

This is one of the best fruit tarts I've ever eaten in my whole life. See those strawberries? Can you imagine taking a piece of the tart, and put it inside ur mouth?

Feel the crunchiness of the crust. Feel the sweetness from the chocolate inside the tart. Feel the smooth and luscious strawberries inside your mouth in each bite. ARGHHH!!!

And did you know that the fruit tart, pictured above only costs RM15? (Its really big! I can eat the whole tart if im feeling stingy-lol) For those people who lives in Kuching, give yourself a treat at Delizze and try their awesome fruit tart!

I'm craving for one now. =(
